Adyton Named Finalist in NSIN & UC San Diego “Off the Grid” Hackathon
San Diego, Calif. — Adyton is pleased to have been named a finalist in the National Security Innovation Network's 2019 “Off the Grid” hackathon, hosted by the University of California San Diego. The event brought together entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and hackers from the academic, military, and commercial start-up communities for a weekend of exploring innovative methods to support tactical computing in austere environments.
A veteran-owned Public Benefit Corporation, Adyton is focused on delivering secure mobile solutions through sophisticated software engineering, opening up a world in which the adaptability of our operators is matched by the adaptability of our communications stack.
Adyton’s approach decouples cryptography from hardware or the network, thereby simplifying the integration challenges Special Operations Forces experience within the current paradigm of network- and rucksack-constrained communications.
Its hackathon submission – the Transport Agnostic Communication Platforms (TACP) – helped solve the challenge of transmitting large quantities of data from connectivity-constrained situations.
Adyton was among four finalists selected from the nearly ninety companies that competed throughout the three-day event. The company plans to build on the work it conceptualized at the hackathon.
“We imagine a world in which the operator's ability to communicate securely with his teammates, his command, and his partners, is not limited by the radios he carries in his rucksack,” says Adyton co-founder J.J. Wilson. “Through agile iteration with multiple military units, Adyton will apply human-centric design thinking and user empathy to drive development against a targeted problem with maximum impact across a broad set of users.”
